Brookings seeks to fill the position of Online Analytics Specialist, Communications.

Basic Function:

Perform online analytics and deliver actionable insights, analyses and recommendations that shape and inform day-to-day online strategies as well as long-term optimization strategies. Will be the subject matter expert and advocate best practices around web analytics, conversion optimization, program/site measurement and multivariate testing.

Education/Experience Requirements:

Bachelors degree, preferably in business, marketing, communications, math, market research, or related field; 3 or more years experience in online marketing or business performance reporting and analysis; proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook; experience in a public policy setting preferred but not required.

Knowledge Requirements:

- Must be a team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must be detail-oriented and possess excellent organizational skills.
- Must have strong proofreading and writing skills.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and communicate findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Previous experience with online analytics tools " for websites, email newsletters, channels such as RSS or social media.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

70% Reporting and Analysis:

- Use the full ecosystem of data sources, internal and external, to "connect the dots" of all touch points and identify opportunities for optimizing both targeting and reach tactics among our key audiences.
- Translate complex metrics into clear insights and actions for decision-makers.
- Perform real-time analytics and provide real-time recommendations.
- Prepare historical reports on website performance, trends, audience behavior and other key success indicators.
- Stay up-to-date on latest Search Engine Optimization (SEO) tactics and techniques for both internal and external search and communicate and educate SEO best practices to communications staff across the organization.
- Stay up-to-date on evolving metrics tools and sources and maintain a strong understanding of tools, business statistics and data capture methodologies.
- Troubleshoot any data issues related to tracking and reporting.

20% Best Practices and Support:

- Serve as a representative of the Director of Online Communications as required.
- Attend Web Coordinator meetings and help provide guidance on best practices based on sound data.
- Maintain best practices library.

10% Other:

- Participate in other Office of Communications projects as requested.
